PLEASE HELP SAVE HOLLY!    Holly lives in Danvers but got lost on Oct. 25th  in Foxboro while the owners’ parents/in-laws were petsitting.  She is gentle, shy and loves other dogs & children.  She is acting exactly like other dogs who have been in her situation; confused, scared and running around like crazy while managing to hide from a family who loves her dearly.  Many dogs from loving homes will not run up to their human family when lost.  This always shocks the family and strangers.  It’s simply the dog’s survival instincts taking over, a throwback to ancestral wolf behavior, nothing more.  “Pampered” dogs of all sizes, breeds and backgrounds have eluded their families’ best attempts to catch them.  Trying to find one’s dog can be emotionally & physically draining, no one is ever prepared for it.  Holly will run if you call her & try to approach her.  Please do not attempt to chase or follow her.  We set up a humane cage trap, used by Animal Control Officers & rescue groups.  It has food, water and familiar items around it that Holly will recognize.  We put it in an area where she was seen a number of times.  Please don’t put out food for Holly.  Though tempting, this allows her to avoid searching for and finding food we are leaving for her.  Don’t worry if you have fed her, just let us know.  We are extremely grateful to those of you who have called us.  Your phone calls let us know that she is alive and still here.  Holly’s family constantly travels 45 minutes from home & work to be here & are trying to be in the “right place at the right time.”  If you have seen Holly but didn’t call previously, please call now.  Approximates on date, time and location will be welcomed.  Each call DOES make a difference.  Call any hour, day or night.  Your privacy will be respected if you have any detailed information.  Dogs may bark excessively if she is in your yard or nearby.  Holly needs to find shelter every day (especially at night) and may sleep under your deck or other small space where she feels safe from harm and is protected from bad weather.  Lost dogs can take a long time to catch; we thank you for your continued patience and understanding.
